Austin Reed is the Workforce Development Trainer, and Composites Technician for the Advanced Composites Institute at MSU. Mr. Reed interprets drawings, and procedures to produce high-quality aerospace parts and tests utilizing robotic stitching, various resin systems, fabrics, and techniques specialized for each project application. Before ACI, Austin held the position of Operations Lead Composite Technician III position at Aurora Flight Sciences - A Boeing Company Mississippi site. While at Aurora Mr. Reed led a team of fabricators for vertical take-off landing (VTOL) add-ons and weapons for the United States and Canadian military, aided in the successful completion of FAI on the Gulfstream 500 Jet structural composite sections, and provided feedback to help improve production. Before Aurora Mr. Reed worked as Lead Composite/Assembly Technician at Stark Aerospace – an IAI Company, fabricating the Hunter MQ-5B aircraft for the United States and Israeli Military. Austin Reed has been producing Aerospace grade composite structures in the Industry for the past 15 years.
